well...
as for the avathar, it must be 50x50 pixels and saved as a PNG, JPEG or GIF. Hmm, it you've followed all that it's probably that your avathar is over 15KB. if you're using photoshop, try using the Save For Web option under File. this should lower the KB.

hope that makes sense...if not let me know and i'll see what i can do!
